A day, by age

What does a homeschool day look like with an online curriculum?

With Clareza Academy a day is a set of subjects, each roughly 30 to 50 minutes on screen, done at whatever hours suit your household, with kindergarten to Grade 2 mixing hands-on activities you lead with short screen lessons, and from Grade 3 your child working through lessons with Clara while you check the dashboard.

Kindergarten to Grade 2

Phonics runs on screen, read aloud and answered by tapping. Science and social studies are short hands-on activities you lead, ice cubes, a treasure map, a walk around the block, followed by a short read-aloud tap game. There are usually two or three of those a week, not five. Kindergarten math is a daily activity with real objects.

Grades 3 to 8

Your child opens a lesson, Clara introduces the idea and asks questions, and then your child practises in the style they choose, such as Read & Recall or one of the learning games. On a computer Clara can draw on a whiteboard beside the chat: key words, steps and maps.

High school

More courses and longer questions, with typed reasoning. The parent's part is mostly the record: watching the transcript take shape and the course choices.

Any hour is a school hour

There are no live classes and no sessions to book, so lessons can happen in the morning, the evening or at the weekend. Units are bodies of work, not weeks, so there is no calendar to fall behind.

Your part, at the end of the day

Open the dashboard to see what was worked on, what was mastered and where your child is stuck, and read any conversation with Clara from the last 30 days. Hours log themselves.

What this is not

  • It is not childcare. A young child needs an adult in the house.
  • There is no teacher to call during the day. That is the trade that makes the flexibility possible.
  • It is screen-based outside PE and the K-2 activities.

Before your child starts: what we collect and why

We collect only what it takes to teach your child: the first name and sign-in you choose, their answers and progress, and their chat with Clara (written by Anthropic's AI, read aloud by OpenAI). Nobody trains AI on it or sells it, and you can see or delete it any time. You create your child's account yourself. Paying by card is how you give consent.

Read what we collect and why

Your consent is needed before we collect anything from your child, and we collect nothing without it. You create your child's account yourself; they never sign up alone.

  • What we collect from your child: the first name and sign-in you choose, their answers, time on lessons and progress, and their chat with Clara. Used to run the lessons, build their transcript and show you how they are doing.
  • Who else handles it: Anthropic (an AI company) receives the chat text and the lesson, with your child's first name but no last name or account details, to write Clara's replies. That is how Clara works, so it is part of the service. If you switch on answering out loud for a child, their voice is turned into text on our own server and then discarded; it is never sent to another company. OpenAI turns lesson text and Clara's replies (which can include your child's first name) into the read-aloud voice. Our email provider sends you reports about your child. Nobody trains AI on your child's data, and nobody sells it.
  • Your rights: see everything collected from your child, have it deleted, or stop further collection at any time, from your account or by emailingour support address. If you refuse the AI sharing above, Clara cannot teach, so the service cannot run. Chats are deleted after 30 days.
  • Safety: if your child writes something suggesting they may be hurt or in danger, we email you and Clareza's owner the same day.

Questions parents ask

How long is a homeschool day with Clareza?

Roughly 30 to 50 minutes on screen per subject, so it depends on how many subjects your child takes. PE is off screen.

Are there set class times?

No. There are no live classes. Lessons happen whenever your household is free.

What does the parent do each day?

In K-2, lead the hands-on activities and stay near for phonics. From Grade 3, check the dashboard and read the conversations, and step in when a skill stalls.
