What does an AI homeschool curriculum do with my child's data?

In Clareza Academy, a child's chat messages go to the AI provider, Anthropic, with their first name only, so Clara can reply, the chat is deleted after 30 days, there is no advertising or selling of data, and audio from a child who answers out loud is never stored, all as written in the privacy policy.

What is collected from a child

The first name and sign-in the parent chose, learning-preference answers, and learning activity: answers, time spent, hints used and the mastery scores computed from them. No location, no contacts, no photos. A child's account can only be created by the parent.

What reaches the AI

When your child chats with Clara, the conversation and the lesson it belongs to go to Anthropic so she can reply, with your child's first name so she can greet them. Never their last name, login or account information, and never for advertising or for training on your child's data. OpenAI reads lesson text and Clara's replies aloud.

Voice is never stored

Answering out loud is off until a parent turns it on for a child. The microphone is live only while the talk button is held, and the recording is turned into text on Clareza's own server and then discarded. It is never sent to another company.

How long things are kept

Chats are deleted 30 days after each message. If a family switches on the optional nightly review that suggests learning supports, what it stores is deleted after 120 days, or at once if it is switched off. Database backups are kept for at most 14 days.

What is never done

No advertising and no ad trackers. No analytics on the pages your child uses or on signed-in parent pages. No selling or renting of anyone's information. No contacting children: all communication goes to the parent.

What to know

  • The AI teacher cannot run without sending your child's chat to Anthropic. Stopping that sharing means the service cannot run for that child.
  • Deleting a child's account is done by asking. A self-serve delete is not built yet; requests are honored promptly.
  • The public pages, before you sign in, use Google Analytics and PostHog. A notice asks before any cookies are set, and "No thanks" stops both from loading.

Before your child starts: what we collect and why

We collect only what it takes to teach your child: the first name and sign-in you choose, their answers and progress, and their chat with Clara (written by Anthropic's AI, read aloud by OpenAI). Nobody trains AI on it or sells it, and you can see or delete it any time. You create your child's account yourself. Paying by card is how you give consent.

Your consent is needed before we collect anything from your child, and we collect nothing without it. You create your child's account yourself; they never sign up alone.

  • What we collect from your child: the first name and sign-in you choose, their answers, time on lessons and progress, and their chat with Clara. Used to run the lessons, build their transcript and show you how they are doing.
  • Who else handles it: Anthropic (an AI company) receives the chat text and the lesson, with your child's first name but no last name or account details, to write Clara's replies. That is how Clara works, so it is part of the service. If you switch on answering out loud for a child, their voice is turned into text on our own server and then discarded; it is never sent to another company. OpenAI turns lesson text and Clara's replies (which can include your child's first name) into the read-aloud voice. Our email provider sends you reports about your child. Nobody trains AI on your child's data, and nobody sells it.
  • Your rights: see everything collected from your child, have it deleted, or stop further collection at any time, from your account or by emailingour support address. If you refuse the AI sharing above, Clara cannot teach, so the service cannot run. Chats are deleted after 30 days.
  • Safety: if your child writes something suggesting they may be hurt or in danger, we email you and Clareza's owner the same day.

Questions parents ask

Does Clareza sell my child's data?

No. Clareza sells and rents no one's personal information, shows no ads and has no ad trackers.

Does the AI company get my child's name?

Only the first name, so Clara can greet them, with the chat text. Never the last name, login or account information.

Is my child's voice recorded?

It is never stored. Answering out loud is off by default, and when it is on the audio is turned into text on Clareza's own server and discarded.

How long are AI chats kept?

30 days after each message, so you can read them, then deleted automatically.
