School with a little one around
How do I homeschool with a toddler or baby in the house?
Save the parts that need you for nap time or quiet time, keep lessons short, and give the little one a special box of toys or a job nearby. Clareza Academy has no set class times, so lessons can happen whenever the baby sleeps, and from Grade 3 Clara teaches while you check in.
Nap time for the hands-on parts
In Clareza the work that needs you is mostly K-2 science and social studies, two or three short sessions a week, not five.
Older children can keep going
From Grade 3, Clara teaches the lesson and the practice grades itself, so an older child can keep working while you feed or settle the baby. You check the dashboard later.
Short pieces, any time of day
There are no live classes, so lessons can happen in the morning, the evening or at the weekend. The Short lessons support breaks practice into 10 to 15 minute pieces.
What this is not
- It is not childcare. A young child still needs an adult in the house.
- Children in kindergarten to Grade 2 need you for science and social studies, and nearby for the rest.
- There is nothing in Clareza for the toddler.

Questions parents ask
Can I homeschool with a new baby?
Many families do, often by doing less for a season. Reading and math first, the rest when you can.
What do I do with a toddler during lessons?
A box of toys kept only for school time, a snack, or crayons at the table often helps. Short lessons help too.
Can my older child work while I am with the baby?
From Grade 3, yes. Clara teaches the lessons, and you see what happened on the dashboard afterwards.
