Part-time school options
What is a hybrid homeschool or microschool, and is it right for us?
A hybrid homeschool is a paid program where your child attends classes on set days, often two or three a week, and you teach at home the rest; a microschool is a very small school, often one mixed-age class, part time or full time. Either can be right if you want help with teaching but not a full school week.
How they differ from a co-op
A co-op is usually run by parents who share the teaching. A hybrid or microschool hires teachers, charges tuition and sets the curriculum. More on co-ops at /homeschool-curriculum/homeschool-co-ops-and-outside-classes.
Questions to ask
Who teaches, and what training they have. What curriculum they use, and what work comes home for home days. Class size, cost and schedule. Whether your child is enrolled as a private school student or stays a homeschooler, because that can change what records you keep. Visit while a class is running.
Where Clareza fits
Most hybrids send home their own work, so a second curriculum is rarely needed for those subjects. Families use Clareza for subjects the program does not teach, or for a child who needs a different level in one subject. There are no set class times, so it fits around the school days.
What this is not
- Clareza is not a hybrid school or microschool. There are no classes, classmates or in-person teachers.
- It does not follow a hybrid school's curriculum or send work to its teachers.
- It does not find or recommend local programs.

Questions parents ask
Is a hybrid school still homeschooling?
It depends on how the program enrolls students and on your state. Ask the program directly.
Is a microschool better than a private school?
Neither is better in general. A microschool is smaller and often more flexible; a private school usually offers more classes and activities. Visit both.
Can I use Clareza with a hybrid school?
Yes, for subjects the program does not teach. The price is the same however many subjects you use.
