One parent, one household
Can a single parent homeschool?
Yes: single parents homeschool by keeping the routine simple, choosing lessons children can partly do on their own, and leaning on family, friends or a co-op for the hours they cannot be there. The plan has to fit your work, not the other way round.
Keep it simple
Reading and math every school day, the rest two or three times a week. A short routine you keep beats a full one you cannot.
Lessons that do not need you every minute
From Grade 3, Clara teaches each lesson and explains wrong answers, so your time goes to checking in. Siblings each work on their own grade, and one price covers every child in the family.
Share the load
A grandparent, a trusted neighbor or a homeschool co-op can cover the hours you work. Many co-ops trade teaching time between parents.
What this is not
- Clareza is not childcare or supervision. Someone still has to be with a young child.
- K-2 science and social studies are done with an adult, two or three times a week.
- Some states ask for records or testing. Check yours at /homeschooling-in.

Questions parents ask
How do single parents afford homeschooling?
Many use the library, free printables and one curriculum for the core subjects. Clareza is one price for every child in the family.
Can I homeschool if I work?
Many do, with lessons in the evening or on weekends and help from family or a co-op for younger children.
Do I have to teach every lesson myself?
Not from Grade 3 in Clareza, where Clara teaches. In K-2 some subjects are done with you.
