Hands-on, child-led
How do I use Montessori at home?
Start with the space, not the shopping list: a low shelf with a few activities your child can choose and put back, real tasks like pouring, cooking and cleaning, and you watching more than telling. You do not need a classroom's worth of materials.
Space and practical life
A few choices on a low shelf, swapped out every week or two. Child-size tools and real jobs: setting the table, washing fruit, sweeping. Let them repeat a task as often as they like.
Materials worth buying first
For reading, sandpaper letters and a movable alphabet. For math, beads or base-ten blocks and number rods. Many families make or print cheaper versions, and buy more only when a child is ready.
Older children, and mixing methods
In the elementary years Montessori moves toward big questions, research and outings. Mixing it with Charlotte Mason is common, since both value real things, nature and a child's attention. For ages 3 and 4, see /homeschool-curriculum/homeschool-preschool-at-home.
Where Clareza fits
Not much, and that is fine. K-2 science and social studies are hands-on activities you do together with things at home. The Printable hands-on pieces support prints paper base-ten blocks, fraction strips, a number line and a ten-frame. In Grade 7, Home Base: Practical Arts and Life Skills does real cooking, mending and small repairs with you nearby. Most other lessons are on screen.
What this is not
- Clareza is not Montessori. Most lessons are on screen, and skills come in a set order.
- No Montessori materials are included or sold. The printable pieces are paper.
- There is nothing for preschool. Clareza starts at kindergarten.
- Each child works on their own lessons. There are no mixed-age group lessons.

Questions parents ask
Can I do Montessori at home without expensive materials?
Yes. Real household tasks, a few homemade materials and a calm shelf go a long way.
Can I mix Montessori and Charlotte Mason?
Yes, many families do. Both lean on real objects, nature and short focused work.
Does Clareza work with a Montessori approach?
Partly. Some families use a screen course for one subject and keep the rest hands-on. Apart from the K-2 activities, PE and a few hands-on courses, Clareza is on screen.
