Exactly what is free here
Is there a free secular homeschool curriculum?
Clareza Academy is not a free curriculum, but a real part of it is free: seven printable units from the secular K-12 curriculum are free PDFs with no email and no account, all 71 courses can be read in full without paying, and three complete sample lessons open with no card. The full curriculum, with Clara, the AI teacher built into the lessons, is $29 a month for every child in the household after 30 free days.
The seven free printable units
Learning to Read: First Sounds, First Words (kindergarten to Grade 2 phonics, 6 lessons). Grade 1 Math: Counting, Comparing, and the Number Line. Grade 3 Math: Equal Groups, Arrays, and the Meaning of Multiplication. Grade 3 Reading: Finding the Evidence. Grade 4 Math: Place Value to One Million. Grade 6 Math: Ratios and Rate Reasoning. Grade 9 Biology: The Chemistry of Life. Each is the first unit of the matching Clareza course, at clarezaacademy.com/free/ followed by learning-to-read, grade-1-math, grade-3-math, grade-3-reading, grade-4-math, grade-6-math or grade-9-biology.
What is inside each unit
Every lesson has a short script for the parent, a page to read together and a practice sheet, and the answers are included. There is no email gate and no account. If you want the second unit of the same course, it is free too: leave your email on the unit's page and it arrives a week later.
Every course is free to read
All 71 courses, kindergarten through twelfth grade, are published in full: every unit, skill and learning objective in teaching order, with no account and no card. The scope and sequence page puts the whole curriculum on one printable page. Reading it is free and always will be.
Three full lessons, free to try
The sample page at /sample has three complete lessons: Grade 4 place value, Grade 7 reading arguments and high school biology. No card, no account and no email. It is the quickest way to see how Clara teaches before anything is paid.
What costs money
Using the curriculum with your children is $29 a month for the whole household, or $290 a year. The first 30 days are free: a card is taken at signup and nothing is charged until day 30, and cancelling before then costs nothing at all.
Being straight about "free"
- There is no free tier. After the first 30 days, using the curriculum with a child costs $29 a month for the family.
- The free printables are the first unit of seven courses, plus Unit 2 by email. They are not a whole free year in any grade.
- A card is needed to start the 30 free days. Nothing is charged until day 30, but the card is taken up front.
