Ahead in one subject, behind in another
What if my child is ahead in one subject and behind in another?
Then you set a different level for each subject: in Clareza Academy you choose a grade for each child and then add or remove individual courses from anywhere in the K-12 catalog, so Grade 8 math with Grade 5 writing and Grade 6 science is a normal setup, all on the one family price.
The grade is a setting
Setting a grade enrols a child in that grade's courses, and nothing checks their age against it. You can change it whenever you like.
Mix courses from any grade
On top of the grade you set, you can add or remove individual courses for any child. A child two years ahead in math takes the higher math course and stays on grade elsewhere.
Find the level for each subject
The placement check in the parent dashboard can be run separately for math and for reading, so each subject gets its own starting point.
Mastery moves them on
Practice is scored on whether the skill is learned, so a child who already has a skill demonstrates it and moves on, and a child who needs more time on one takes it.
What this is not
- The ceiling is Grade 12. A child far ahead in one subject will reach the top course and need another provider after it.
- Placement covers math and reading only. For science and history, read the courses and choose.
- It does not decide for you. You set the grades.

Questions parents ask
Can my child be in different grades for different subjects?
Yes. Set the grade that fits most subjects, then add or remove individual courses from the whole K-12 catalog.
Does it cost more to add courses from another grade?
No. The $29 a month family price includes every course, with no course limits.
How do I know which level fits each subject?
Read the courses, which are open in full with no account, and use the placement check for math and reading in the parent dashboard.
