A comparison written by one of the two
Clareza Academy vs Build Your Library
We make one of these, so read this the way you would read any comparison written by a seller. What we can do is be specific about our own product, accurate about the shape of theirs, and honest about where they are the better answer. Their current price is on their site, not on this page, and the reason is at the bottom.
What Build Your Library is
Build Your Library is a secular, literature-based curriculum inspired by Charlotte Mason, sold as downloadable lesson plans with a book list. History and literature run together, and families get the books themselves, from the library or a shop. The parent reads and leads.
The pricing difference that actually decides it
They sell downloadable plans by level, and the books are bought or borrowed separately. Check their site for current levels.
Clareza is $29 a month for every child in the household, month to month, with no per-child seats and no course limits. That is $348 a year whether you have one child or four, or $290 a year on the annual plan. The first 30 days are free, a card is taken and nothing is charged until day 30, and cancelling before then costs nothing.
The comparison to run is the same either way: monthly price, times the number of children, times twelve.

- You want a living-books, Charlotte Mason style. Their plans are built on it. Clareza does not supply full books. Its English lessons use passages and excerpts, and the high school novel lessons ask about a book your teen is reading. If whole books at the center of the day is what you want, a literature-based curriculum gives you that and Clareza does not.
- You want to use your library. Their book lists work with library books.
- You like a gentle day with narration and reading aloud.
Where Clareza is different
The lesson is taught for you
Clara, the teacher built into every lesson, teaches, asks the questions and explains each wrong answer. A child who answers 136 to 304 minus 178 is told which column went wrong and walked through that column. She is an AI and can be wrong, so you can read her conversations from the parent side for 30 days.
Math is part of it
Math runs from kindergarten to Precalculus inside Clareza, taught and checked, so there is nothing separate to choose.
One price for the household
$29 a month covers every child in the family and all 71 courses, with no per-child seats and no different rate for high school.
Records kept for you
Hours log on their own, mastery is tracked per skill, and a transcript prints in one click, which matters if your state asks for hours or a portfolio.

Questions parents ask
Are both secular?
Yes. Both are secular.
Does Clareza use living books?
No. Clareza uses passages and excerpts, not whole books, so it is a different style from Charlotte Mason.
Can I use both?
Yes. Families often keep Build Your Library for history and reading and use Clareza for math and science.

Why there is no price for Build Your Library on this page
We checked in September 2026 and the sources contradicted each other, including the companies' own pages against the review sites. Publishing a competitor's price that turns out to be wrong is unfair to them and useless to you, and any figure here would be out of date within a month anyway. Ours is above, because it is ours and we can stand behind it. Theirs is one click away, on their site, where it is current.
